Rousing Retreat Weekend

Things are heating up in the Barbershop world as choruses polish their skills ready for the National LABBS Convention in late October.

The Abbey Belles are no different and we called on our friend Emma Shanks to put us through our paces last weekend.

Remembering the words to the song, the mood of the song, our expressions, our movements, our breathing, our harmonising, how we stand on the risers (how we build the risers), are we listening to our neighbour? Checking our toothy smiles and checking sight lines through our ‘windows’...

And then, as if by magic, with just minor but telling tweaks from Emma we added the polish to our package of two songs, leaving us tired, elated, full of cake (it’s not a proper Belles event if there is no cake) but most of all encouraged and confident that we are ready for the big event!

In the fabulous setting of Harrogate Convention centre we will be strutting our stuff, we have a lot to remember and we will be somewhere on the spectrum of terrified to giddy but with our fabulous preparation and singing alongside our sisters-in-music we will have the best time and give it our best shot.
