A lovely (if depleted) end to 2024

As we start 2025 we take a look back at last year and recap on last month specifically. We managed to cram quite a few events into December:

5th December

Christmas Meal at Spuds and Berries, Hemingbrough

A big thanks to Sally for organising our Christmas meal at Spuds and Berries :)

7th December

Singout for the Residents of Springhill Carehome, Easingwold

Singing here has become somewhat of a regular occurance and it was lovely to see our good friend Barry and wish him (and 5 other residents) a very happy and harmonious 90th birthday!

10th December

Carols and Mince Pies Evening

After our show in October the committee said 'no more organising shows for a while' however, we managed to sneak one more 'low-key' event in the diary before giving them a rest over Christmas. We were pleasantly surprised by how many people turned out to see us sing at our Christmas Show, and share some carols and mince pies, as well as donating to our raffle and fundraising tin! (We raised over £300 so thank you to all involved!)

As well as the chorus singing we had performances from Jabberwocky and back by popular demand the Rossini Duet (Three Tenors). On top of this there was a surprise poem reading from one of our ex-Belles, Megan.

The grand finale of the 100-Club draw was won by Irene's Grandson - congratulations! If you want to buy a ticket for the 2025 100-Club please speak to a member of the chorus and you too could be the lucky winner of the £250 grand prize at the end of the year. £25 per month is also up for grabs in each monthly draw from Feb - Nov (all winners of the monthly draw are re-entered for the grand finale)

14th December

Singing at Connaught Court, Fulford

19th December

Candlelit Choir and Jingles at Carlton Towers

By Helen Rainford

Despite being almost completely taken down by various colds, flu and general lurgy we were able to turn out to Carlton Towers with 17 voices. We joined other performers from around Yorkshire for a night of festive singing.

We chose 6 of our favourite songs, mostly Christmas themed and some not so much, and all sounded fabulous considering our low numbers. There was an interesting moment when our MDs had to precariously clamber on and off the platforms but both survived with no injuries!!!

And what a beautiful setting it was with sparkling Christmas trees and log fires and plenty of Christmas tunes all topped off with some lovely feedback about how good we sounded and how we'd 'got them right there'. What a great way to end a fabulous year!! Get well soon poorly belles!! Happy Christmas everyone!! Xxx
